| The independent Professorship of Wood Technolgy is located on the Hoenggerberg campus in the building HIF of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and belongs to the Departement of Forest and Wood Sciences. | |
| The activities cover basic and applied research with a wide range of topics which are generally aimed to get better wood products for industrial use. The main projects are centered around: | |
 Reinforced and prestressed timber; Glued laminated
timber using thick laminations; Cross-joined beams; Moulding round wood
to square timber; Chemical
modification of wood and wood products; Swelling and
shrinking properties of compression wood. |

| Intensive contacts are maintained with scientific institutions and with industry to perform efficient knowledge transfer. Progress reports are published in technical and scientifical journals. | |
| The teaching efforts include undergraduate and graduate courses in wood technology. A special seminar series assures regular contact with national and international scientists and also with the people from the industry. Complementary lectures are organised together with other members of the Departement. | |
